I moved to Arizona from Minnesota in September 2017. It's okay but hadn't explored anywhere else since retiring. Now I'm looking at different areas to explore.

I have a feeling I'll like Nevada, just from the threads I've been reading. It sounds fascinating.
Yes, most of our camping is 'dry' camping on BLM or National Forest land. This is not because we are trying to avoid campground fees, but we like being in the wild without too many others around. If you want some good local CA and NV spots let me know!

Carson City is great to visit because we are within an hours drive of Lake Tahoe, Virginia City and Reno and I agree with Mikala, Northern Nevadans are pretty dang friendly! Must be all the sunshine

I love Arizona and we are planning on a road trip there soon ourselves..I want to visit and camp in the 'Rim' area this time.

Carson City "State of the City":

https://carsonnow.org/story/01/24/20...e-city-address

An excellent synopsis of what makes Carson City such a great place to live!

According to our mayor: "This past year we had the honor of making the top one-hundred list of top performing small cities in America from the Milken Foundation."

Just never call it, "The Smith Valley". You'll get a taste of their real nature.

Moved to Henderson from NC 2.5 mo. ago to be closer to family, plenty of sprawl with way too much traffic for my liking, we will rent for a year and before then we'll look at Pahrump.

Gotta say I am LOVING the weather. Last week was freezing, this week in the mid 70s.

Took my indoor seedlings put them out in the green house, unpacked the irrigation system and got her going (DH, not me ), leaves are out, flowers are blooming...the whole valley is turning green.
