I asked my friend and he guessed either freesia or magnolia. I don't think my friend is right.

Definitely not freesias or magnolia.

Was thinking cherry blossoms, but too many petals I believe

Not big enough to be magnolia flowers.

I think they're a variety of cherry or some similar ornamental fruit tree.

I’ll go with Cherry also. Either cherry, crabapple or apple. But tgey look mostly like cherry.

I concur. Some variety of Prunus. Definitely not magnolia or freesia. Completely different shapes.

I was thinking crabapples... their flowers can be anything from pure white to pink-tinged white, to dark pink...

Those are Yoshino Cherry blossoms. I know this because I live in a town that has a whole week-long festival built around them.
