Oracle Corp. chairman and co-founder Larry Ellison was in Nashville for a health care industry summit Oracle hosted this week.

Apparently, he's going to make Nashville Oracle's world headquarters.

From the Nashville Business Journal:

Ellison made the declaration today during a on-stage interview at a health care industry summit Oracle hosted in Nashville. It marked Ellison's first public appearance in Nashville in the nearly three years since Oracle – one of the world's 30 largest public companies — cemented a deal to create 8,500 jobs by 2031 on a $1.35 billion, 70-acre campus on the East Bank.

"Ultimately, it will be our world headquarters," Ellison told a packed hotel ballroom. "It's the center of our future."

The article continues:

"And we want to be in a community — and I use that word very precisely — we want to be part of a community where our people want to live," Ellison said. "Nashville is a fabulous place to live. It's a great place to raise a family. It has a unique and vibrant culture. Nashville ticked all the boxes of, this is where I'd love to raise a family, this is where I'd love to go to work.

"So in a sense," Ellison added, "it was kind of easy."

Oracle has spent $277 million buying 70 acres of land and continues behind-the-scenes work to hone its development vision.

Ellison, who Forbes estimates to be the fifth-wealthiest person on the planet, has been shaping those plans, which include a sweeping pedestrian bridge over the Cumberland River that would connect Oracle's campus with Germantown.

In addition to office buildings, Ellison said Oracle's property will have a hotel, restaurants, a community health clinic and a "beautiful concert venue."

Oracle committed way more to Nashville than they did to Austin to begin with. This should have been the move from the get go.

From the article you cited:

Oracle's headquarters is currently located in Austin, Texas. It moved there in 2020, after leaving Redwood Shores, California.

This is incredible news for the Nashville area!

Will only continue to help Nashville's brand, to serve as an example for other companies, residential developments and hotels to follow, for investing big money into the Nashville area.

Bright things ahead for Nashville, indeed.
