There has been a trend of metal or punk covers in general. First to Eleven, Halocene, Kayla King, Lauren Babic, No Resolve, Violet Orlandi, Leo, Rain Paris, State of Mind, etc. These artists just release covers for the most part. I can only think of Our Last Night, Fame on Fire and First to Eleven as Concrete Castles. These covers can range from pop to classic rock to metal to country.

I am familiar with some but not all of those metal cover producing acts. I wonder a bit about how much those videos can generate in revenue. I assume enough to least cover production costs or a good share of it, perhaps way more?

Some of these artists / groups are great at covers. Many times though the original material they also put out does not match up to it. Performing well is easier than creating great new work.

I often bounce around on YouTube music videos. Sometimes one artist leads to 5 side links open, then it turns into 20 and in trying to check out and close those 20, they lead to 20 or 50 more. You have to decide how much exploring you want to do.

Good thread! I don't often noodle for music on Youtube, but once in a while get obsessed with a certain genre. Last year it was dubstep, which led me to watching videos of "robot dancing". Here's two of my favorites:

He's definitely enjoyable and fun, but I'm especially thankful I discovered Nightwish because of him as he has covered some of their songs! They're a symphonic metal band from Finland who's been around for decades and very popular in Europe and South America, but I had never heard of them. Nice compositions featuring female leads, the first one being an operatic singer.
BTW, Dan Vasc went viral with a metal cover of Amazing Grace and he just now released "My Heart Will Go On" and I guarantee you've never heard this version before, lol! He's really a good singer AND a lot of fun!
