Oh, I'm sure William Shatner IS intentionally funny there! He has a crazy sense of humor, noted from long ago. Just check out outtakes and bloopers on "Star Trek". "Shat" is notorious for lampooning himself, a person who doesn't seem to take himself or much of anything else seriously.
So, I think the sly guy knew this was a goofball type of thing, just one of the things he's done to keep his name out there.
WOW! Just... WOW! That honestly was mesmerizing and a whole lot of fun! It qualifies as parody/comedy and IS "just plain weird". Again: It's FUN=} How many of us really followed all of the lyrics in Queen's rendition without "waffling" a few words? It was interesting to SEE the lyrics. And, the rest is delightful, with the constellations joining in and the response from the young couple. "Holy~Shatner!"
