So I noticed that we don't actually have thread specifically dedicated to Developments and such for Mobile and Baldwin Counties. Since a lot of projects are coming to Mobile Bay area, I decided to start the thread

So Mobile has been on fire with projects lately. Like the $775 million Calvert expansion, $100 mil Austal expansion, Coca-Cola expansion, a couple logistics companies coming to the city thanks to the growing port. All happening just the last month. Now today Myer Machine Services in West Mobile is expanding adding another 50 jobs. Big things happening for the region

The Gayfers Building and Barton Academy have been given a $3.5 mil and $3.4 mil tax credit respectively. So maybe we may finally see something come of the two properties

City of Mobile have bought the old Mae Eanes Middle School to build affordable housing on the property (the first in decades), thoughts?

Gayfers should be turned into a European style shopping arcade but I think it will be apartments

Well if I understand correctly, the developer for the Cottage Hill/Hillcrest residential project have withdrawn from development. 2nd time in like a month a residential developer of some kind has redacted development because of local opposition. We are in the middle of a housing shortage, we should not be scaring off developers if we want to grow as a city.

What was the development at CH/Hillcrest?

I recall the Hive development on Moffett being withdrawn as well due to opposition.
