Recommend please:
I'll be opening a checking account soon in preparation for moving over.
Anyone have a preference for First Hawaiian, or Bank of Hawaii. I will need good online access through an app. Which I know they both have. But I'll be banking from the mainland for a couple months so won't be able to go to the branch. Thanks

First Hawaiian is completely overhauling their online systems this weekend - which will hopefully be an improvement as the current online experience sucks.

Thanks, I was leaning towards BOH because of slightly better reviews on the app.
I'd appreciate hearing if you see improsvement
I'm going to be depositing checks from the mainland for a while. I don't need to open the account till around July 1.

I use american savings app, and can deposit checks with it. Haven't used the other ones to say which is better.

thanks Mitch, Ill keep that one in mind. I only suggest BoH, and First HA because they both have branches very near my place in Kahana. I see American Savings is in Lahaina which is OK too

As a sidenote regarding credit unions, I have had an excellent experience with Hawaii State Federal Credit Union. It's location is convenient being right next to Target in Kahului. The lobby is never busy, I can walk in and speak with a teller immediately.
Their app. is actually pretty sophisticated , especially considered it's a credit union. So far it has all the amenities on the app. that I use on my Bank of Hawaii app.

I have my HELOC with them - what I did like about them was a zero fee closing and no appraisal fee - they paid for the drive by appraisal.
