What are the areas in the LA area that have the most pedestrian activity in 2024?

I used to live in NYC and miss the walkable/urban vibe and was wondering which neighborhoods/areas have that vibe?

The beach cities are always a good bet.

You not going to find anyplace in Los Angeles with a similar "walkable/urban vibe" as you found in NY. Closest thing you may find to that is in Downtown LA, but mostly only during the week. DTLA is a bit of a ghost town in many places at night or on weekends. That is, unless you are near LA Live area.

Are you defining "walkable" as in you are able to walk to groceries, shopping, entertainment, bars, restaurants, etc from where one lives? Or just cool walkable areas where one could drive to and just spend an hour or two walking around before driving back home?

Walking usually means hiking in LA.

Check the Runyon Canyon Hike. There are many young half-naked men and women. That's the place where aspiring Hollywood people are.

You'll find plenty of people at parks or just canyons where they can enjoy nature.

Run a search on Redfin with a walk score > 90. Glendale and Long Beach have quite a few places.

Sure, but still nothing remotely like NY.

You can find some of it in old Town Pasadena, Myrtle Ave. in Monrovia, the Village in Claremont, Mission in South Pasadena, and plenty more on the Westside.

Here's a clip of a walking tour of South Pas:

Downtown would be closest, then Hollywood.

Historic Core DTLA, Westwood Village, Chinatown, Little Tokyo/Arts District, central and south Hollywood, Venice, Koreatown, Westlake, list goes on.

Pedestrian activity in Los Angeles historically has been pretty under recognized as an urban feature. It's definitely closer to Chicago than San Diego in that regard.
