Hamas is using Palestinians, not only as human shields, but as fodder.
Why is Israel taking the bait and killing the "fodder" when they know it will not solve the problem? In fact it will increase Hamas hatred, look bad in the world's view and sacrifice their own soldiers?

The short answer is that nothing that Israel can or will do can reduce Hamas hatred or make it look better in the world. Israel cannot defend itself without killing the people whom Hamas is hiding behind. The people of Israel prefer a surviving and vibrant country that is hated by the world to a lovely and glorious funeral. There is a book called People Love Dead Jews: Reports from a Haunted Present by Dara Horn. The book's premise is that dead Jews, i.e. Holocaust victims (Anne Frank in particular) and other similar people are a lot more popular than actual, identifiable living Jews. The author writes a lengthy chapter on a righteous Gentile, Darian Fry, The gist of that appears to be that Darian Fry was not well liked as an actual person and got little glory. What the author did tell us about him was that aside from his year engaging in rescue he was extremely unhappy and not easy to get along with.
Except for a brief period After the Holocaust when the rhetoric was more pro-Jewish and pro-Israeli, the real feelings of the world are to the contrary. People will always give excuses as to the Jews being stubborn, unhelpful and obstinate. The fact is that the Jews are just “the other.” The difference between hatred of Jews and hatred of other minority groups is that the Jews are extremely successful whereas other groups are not successful. We are not a very good underdog.

I suppose Israel's present actions will bring more acceptance in the Arab world, what does killing 34,000 Palestinians accomplish.

Hamas has presented the number of 34,000. Folks who don’t support Hamas have suggested Hamas would have every reason to exaggerate the actual number and point to countless examples (starting with the recent hospital hoax) of Hamas doing just that. Of course, those same folks reasonably fix responsibility for Palestinian deaths in this conflict on on those Palestinians who started this recent conflict (Hamas).
Beyond that, much of the Arab street has always supported Hamas (and still supports Hamas) v Israel so the made-up number has made little difference in any case.
