Surgeons make more than 350k. If they didn't botch so many people up the premiums wouldn't be so high. If Insurance companies walls could talk there be a strong case that many shouldn't even be practicing. They have too many lawsuits.
Where do you people get these numbers? The guy in the story is making $350k a year. I guess they could be lying. But this stuff can be looked up quite easily:
As of May 10, 2024, the average annual pay for an Attending Surgeon in New York is $363,470 a year. Just in case you need a simple salary calculator, that works out to be approximately $174.75 an hour. This is the equivalent of $6,989/week or $30,289/month.
While ZipRecruiter is seeing salaries as high as $437,613 and as low as $169,575, the majority of Attending Surgeon salaries currently range between $382,900 (25th percentile) to $437,600 (75th percentile) with top earners (90th percentile) making $437,613 annually in New York.
Sounds like $350k is about average. Most surgeons are not doing brain surgery, orthopedics, or plastics, which obviously pay more but are in the minority.
Paul Connor has plenty of hurdles when it comes to helping run Stony Brook’s Eastern Long Island Hospital.
There’s finding quality doctors, recruiting nurses and luring lab technicians in a tight labor market. What makes Connor’s job particularly challenging though is the region’s chronic housing shortage, where even cardiologists making $350,000 a year struggle to find places to live, he said.
They do not want to settle to live in normal houses/apts for this area. Imagine where the rest of us are supposed to live? I have as many Science degrees as they do, but earn 1/3 the $$$. Supply and demand, overpopulation, taxes (which none of you vote against) etc. Unfortunate, but this is what apathy brings.
You really think that people who want to be doctors are morons?
Many are one dimensional thinkers/robots. Not well rounded in dealing with anything except what the big pharma and Medtronic tell them to promote to patients.
