Neat, but I don't see it happening.

People on FB seem furious about this.

Gee, the entirety of Allentown is old and grimy, well past its prime (like lots of places in Pennsylvania). Why are people so anti-development here?

I support development, but this is a stretch. Therefore , I'm with the boring old coots on this one.

I haven't seen opposition exactly, I am just pessimistic. PPL is about to be vacant, PPL Plaza is being converted to apartments but it will still have (empty) office space, and the first office building on the waterfront is done (I believe). Post COVID, where is the demand?

The one saving grace is this isn't some developer looking for an anchor. This is a legit company that wants to occupy a few floors themselves, and needs a few tenants lined up.I just think adding even more office space isn't really likely. I really want to see this happen, I just am not confident.

I agree with this. I keep rooting for Allentown to become a friendlier place, somewhere that I wouldn't mind strolling on a summer evening. Instead, I find that if I'm going to someplace in Allentown, like a Phantoms game, or to do something at the Government building on 7th Street, there's nothing that makes me want to wander. That's not the case in Bethlehem, where it seems there are many cute shops, cafe's and restaurants, right on the main drag and I can easily spend a couple of hours.

They did open a new place on the Waterfront, just a week or so ago. https://www.wfmz.com/features/eat-si...6155f7b22.html
