In a blow to the local music scene, both Quaker Steak and Lube, a restaurant/bar downtown, and Sidetracks, a bar in Bristol, TN that booked several good national bands, both closed suddenly this week.

Quaker Steak had been open since 2014, but earlier this year prohibited bikers from wearing club cuts on the premises. That seemed to seal their fate.

Sidetracks has changed hands several times, and it will probably reopen under a different name at some point, but still, it did book better known bands and some national touring acts that I doubt will come back to Bristol now.

Sad day for the music scene.

Serious, I wonder if this Quaker Steak was somehow connected to the original in Sharon, PA. I know the Sharon restaurant was the original becasue We used to go down on Wednesday nights (late 70’s) for all you can eat shrimp night — that’s how I became mildly allergic to shell fish, lol

IF I remember correctly it was three ‘Nam Vets who opened the restaurant. My son’s father was a Nam Vet so we made it a point to spend most of our eating and drinking money there. It was not a biker bar, so colors were not allowed. They eventually sold (I think) and it was re-opened as “Three By The River” because it sat right on the She a go River.

I see by this link The Original Quaker Steak appears to be open again. Don’t quote me on anything, lol. I think I remember every thing as it was but I’m talking 40-something years ago

I don’t know anything about “Sidetracks”.

I believe the one in Bristol was part of some larger chain.
