I live in Bristol, and both sides of the city total about 50,000 residents.

I've tried getting Uber numerous times, and there are rarely any drivers. If you get a ride somewhere, you might not get back, or the other way around. You can't rely on it. Lyft is even worse.

Back in the winter, I ordered a delivery from Walmart. It got here quickly. I ended up getting the Walmart+ annual membership with free delivery from the store. My last couple of orders either never made it at all, and I had to get a refund, or were very late. Yesterday's order was late, and when I talked to the lady who brought it (DoorDash), she said they have almost no drivers. Orders are picked and pile up because there aren't any drivers to get them to houses.

Regular DoorDash has been fine, but I rarely get food delivered - maybe once every other month or so.

I get that this isn't a major city, but I'm shocked that Uber is practically unavailable, especially with the amount of people going to and from bars on State Street, the casino, etc. It's not a small town of 500 either.

Anyone else notice this problem?

My co-worker and her BF door dash on the side, they live in Bristol. They have said door dashing in Bristol is difficult because the tips are so poor, the volume of trips so low, and the distances (cost to them) make it not worth their while in most instances. JC is apparently better because they can stay within a smaller area and still have enough volume to make door dash worthwhile.

I don't think the demographics of Bristol work to support a functioning Uber and delivery service, unfortunately. Just my opinion. Johnson City would be the only city in the region where that would sort of work. Even then, not sure how good it would be there either.

I was in Johnson City for dinner Saturday night, and saw like ten Ubers. That would never happen in Bristol. Sadly, I think it’s a demographic issue too.
