I have some money at Fidelity in a taxable account I intend to spend over about 3 years, and I need to put it in something that's not too volatile. I was thinking brokered CDs as an option.

Thoughts on this strategy?

Are there better options to consider?

There's 1 yr CDs at 5.6%. I think I'll put some $$$ there, but also create a ladder, so I have liquidity at 3 / 6 / 9 month intervals, in addition.

I've never purchased a CD through a brokerage account before, only directly through banks. This is a new experience. Easy-Peasy, the money's already there, so one less step.

I generally have 2-3 CDs in my Fidelity account. Their money market account is currently paying near CD interest rates, but it does fluctuate with the market.

I bought my first brokered CD recently at 5.55%. Was easy to get, no new account needed, the only issue I saw is that it is callable, so no guarantees that I can stay in it for 13 months.

The MM is where the cash is, as a default. I see the current 7-day yield is 4.98%.

The callable 13-month is 5.65%, as of today.

Ok, setting up 6 / 9 / 13 month CDs. Haven't decided on setting up a 3 month or not. TBD.

I bought quite a few at Fidelity and TD. Super easy.

Yeah, we use that, too. Much easier than going from bank to bank.
