I am an avid Chad Daybell trial watcher. Several times commentators have said that the police searched the property twice. The only activity in the testimony is search over two days.

Q What caused the investigators to search Chad Daybell's property?
Q Did they search twice?

Answers: Investigators did search twice. The first time was in December/January and the second was the following summer when the bodies were found.
The Daybell house was searched the first time, but not the property- snow covered the ground then.

The cause for the searches were several, but they all came after the Rexburg police were called to Lori's townhouse for a welfare check on JJ, the young boy who was murdered.
At first, all the police attention was on Lori, and then on her brother Alex Cox, but it all also led to Chad.

This case is extremely complicated. It involves more than 3 families, at least 4 different states, 5 different husbands of Lori Vallow Daybell, and at least 3 murders or attempted murders, with more suspected. And for most of a year, one of the defendants was deemed to be legally insane.
