I will unexpectedly be spending a day or two in WV next week. What would be some cool neighborhoods or parks in Huntington/Ashland/Burlington/Proctorville to walk around? Interesting or historic local restuarants/bakeries/cafes? Any good museums in town?

Grab dinner at La Famiglia. Best Italian food you'll ever eat.

Ritter Park is a fantastic park also check out the rose garden there. The Huntington Museum of Art is also an amazing resource for a city of Huntington's size. Beech Fork State Park has some nice trails for hiking.

For food, go grab a hot dog from Frost Top or Stewarts. Jim's Spaghetti on 5th Avenue is about a Huntington of a restaurant as it gets. If you want a really high-quality meal, go to 21 at the Frederick.

Nomada Bakery would be a good place to stop as well. You might even considering starting your day there. It’s in the old train depot and connected to the visitors bureau and a gift shop called the Red Caboose filled with work from local artists. You’d be able to get a lot of info on the area from the visitors bureau.
