Waterbeds did improve some, with time, but they still went out of vogue... Haven't seen one now in decades.

LOL my dad used to say that sleeping on one was like wresting a 400 pound hog all night.

I travel and lodge a bit for work and I can definitely say there are differences in mattress quality. We have a Sealy hybrid mattress etc at home, and it is okay- we generally sleep well. 10 years old and time for a change though.

I have had the opportunity to sleep on a few Stearns & Foster beds while lodging. That is a whole different ball of wax! They are the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. And I do pull up the mattress covers to check the brands.
