Yet another disappointing result. I know McDavid did nothing in this series, and Draisaitl, after his 4 goal performance in game 1, did nothing the rest of this series, but that's not on him, this is once again on the crap poor goal tenders the Oilers FO puts on the ice. I said it before and I stand by it: the Oilers have a decent goal tender and they are going to at worst the cup finals, and if they have a good goal tender they are winning the Cup. Like for example, Jonathan Quick who is clearly on the backside of his career but would've been the best goal tender the Oilers would've had this series I believe they would have beaten the Knights & Kraken and probably the Stars and made the finals. Give them a #1 net minder like a Vasilevsky or Sorokon and they are easily winning the cup. I'd just like to see someone actually decent between the pipes next year if only because it will take pressure off of 97 & 29; if they both have a subpar series they have a goalie that can pick them up. You CANNOT convince me otherwise that if Quick was starting for Edmonton this series instead of Stuart Skinner that Quick allows 5 goals (the last goal Vegas scored that game was an empty net), so even if the rest of the games played out the same way, but hardly a given with Quick in net, they are still playing, with a game 7 in Vegas on Tuesday night with a 2-time Stanley Cup winner in net, and 2 generational players who really haven't played a good series. You'd have to like your chances. And that's only with a decent goalie! Now just imagine if they had a good goalie?? They'd be preparing for the Dallas/Seattle winner right now! Outside of the top 6 or 8, I don't care what they do, getting a decent net minder should be the #1 and likely only off season move this team should go. This is a good roster, don't make major changes to it, add an actual goalie and see what Draisaitl and McDavid can do!

Well..
Oilers' season opener was brutal. They got stomped in Vancouver, 8-1. One of the Canucks had 4 goals

Not a good start for goalie Jack Campbell.. after his first three 2023 games, he's giving up 3.66 goals a game. And was pulled during the season opening stomping.

At some point this team will need to stop putting blame on goalies.

What do you feel are their larger problems?

And I don't think the team is specifically blaming goaltending for their disappointments.. but in their season opener, their two goalies combined to give up 8 goals. I think it would've been fair to primarily blame goalie play..

January 2024.. Oilers have won 16 games in a row, getting close to a record-breaking streak.
This is Oilers' excellence people have been waiting for.. but of course, postseason will be the true revelation.

Kucherov was the winner to me.
