Nothing looks worse than a man with dyed hair. Don't know that I've seen one that wasn't painfully obvious. Two men I know personally who did were married to Asian women that made them. One of them in early 50s, one well into his 70s.

I agree, would never color my hair, I'm just glad to still have it. Currently at 69 I still have to get haircuts often, no bald spots, and I would describe it as "salt and pepper" with still more pepper. My maternal grandfather had a full head of hair (white) when he passed at 95.Whether it's human nature or just societal conditioning, gray hair on men actually looks good. Perhaps because we start earlier than women, so men with gray may still only be in their 30s-40s, while women with gray hair just look old.
There was an Aveda ad on the wall by my hairstylists station showing a before and after of a man with hair color. I thought he looked much better with the grey (the before pic).

I daresay that's because he either did it himself, used a product designed for men, or both. I think few men care enough to do something like this "right" by actually following instructions and they have little experience with doing anything like it. Also, men's products tend to have about 3 shades with absolutely no nuance whatsoever. Makes it difficult to do it in anything but a heavy-handed way.
OTOH, the expectation isn't there for men the way it is for women, so why even bother when everyone can ooh and ah over your being distinguished and the salt & pepper whatever.
Oh - another reason men's dyed hair appears to be "painfully obvious" is that if it is WELL done, you won't notice it...so yeah.
I was coloring my Grey hairs but everytime I go to get a haircut the ladies tell me I'd look better if I'd let it go all white. But I don't feel it, like is a woman more attractive with Grey hairs, he'll no, it's rare. I freak out when I see some friends and they look like super old no maintenance like lazy or not up to date. Like wouldn't you prefer your house painted or a car with good paint or your clothes. Some people just don't know how to dress up and to me it's the same with your hair. Many of the celebrities paint their hair and when they don't you're like what happened to them. Don't be deceived dude by the very few who say they prefer Grey hairs but in reality nobody does. STAY LOOKING SHARP.
