This is well worth a read and explains a lot as to why you definitely DON'T want to be using soap on your hair - REAL shampoo bars for sure are ok, but you need to double check the small print on the labels and ingredients.

In an emergency bar soap as shampoo is not terrible.

Aussie products also sells bodywash in a pump bottle that can double as shampoo in a pinch.

It's worth it to note that most people need to follow a bar-shampoo (or soap) wash with a vinegar/lemon juice/citric acid rinse. The difference is like night and day.

Years ago I read that people used Zote laundry bar soap for shower and shampoo. I like to use it as a shampoo once in a while.

I've used several types of J.R. Liggett bar shampoo for decades. Beats plastic bottle waste, though I like Paul Mitchell liquid Tea Tree Special shampoo as well. I know there are more bar shampoo choices these days but I like theirs. Hair feels and smells great. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
