Never been a huge fan of Savage rifles. My buddy loves them, and they are shooters, but the actions leave me a little cold.

I'm thinking this- https://www.browning.com/products/fi...t-2-speed.html

6lbs, 7oz.

Should have one of each

I have small primer brass and small rifle primers out the wazoo and all the dies for reloading the 6.5CM. I also own a 7mm-mag and a couple .280AI's . I like shooting steel with the CM. I might like a lighter 6.5CM for hiking around the coulees.

I don't really need or want a 6.5 PRC.

Yes but this was anything but. Actually a detachable mag is fine, you just can’t possess mags with more than a 10-rd capacity.

Honestly, though, a bolt-action would be fine for me anyway.

I do keep thinking an M1A scout rifle in 6.5CM would be really cool, too.

Why not. It will cover pretty much everything at all ranges. To me it's the perfect round. Thoughts?

Why not a 6.5 PRC?

Brass. .30-06 is the parent case for .280. You can neck down the parent, then fireform for .280AI.

Performance- generally the .284 offers a lot of higher bc bullets, and I’ve read some comparisons on Rokslide and the .280AI with a 160gr ABLR carries more energy down range than a 6.5 PRC with ELDX bullets. Personally I’m not hung up on this- both will do the job.
