I was curious in the population size ( not percantage) of the Black community in every state and do some mild comparisons. I look at statstical atlas for places. I'll start with my state.

Mississippi:
1. Jackson - 139,000
2. Greenville - 25,700
3. Meridian - 25,300
4. Hattiesburg - 25,200
5. Gulfport - 24,700

In terms of Metro areas, I've heard that Albany, GA is the only majority black MSA in the country.

Not sure how true that is.

For NY State(very rough estimates), NYC-2,000,000 (about 25%)
Buffalo-100,000(about 38%)
Rochester-85,000(about 42%)
Syracuse-45,000(about 30%)
Mount Vernon-44,000 (about 66%)

Those last two are very close and may swap spots...Again, very rough estimates based upon population and percentage rough estimates.

Interesting enough, 3 of the 5 have black mayors too.

I expected that all the top 5 for NY state was going to be 100K. How many of the 2 Million are Black American vs Afro Carribean & African nationalities?

The Memphis MSA is plurality (though not majority) black: 47.3% black, 45.2% white. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few other small majority-black MSAs in the South.

Well, you have to consider how small the cities are in terms of land and in turn, population. A lot of black people in the state live in suburbs of NYC(as well as other areas) or quite a few of the smaller cities in at least substantial numbers/percentages(Yonkers and Albany are in the 30-35,000 range, with about 12 others having at least 10,000 or more).

I did a breakdown in a couple of threads, but I believe it is about 2/3rds AA, with the others making up the rest, give or take a little bit.

Denver: Population 704,621
Black: 9.9% or 69,757

Aurora, CO Population 366,623
Black: 15.9% or 58,293

Those are the only two cities in CO with sizable black populations.

Jackson, MS also has a MSA with a black plurality (although, like Memphis, not a majority).

What about Colorado Springs?
