Are there any PRCA rodeo fans in this Ft. Worth forum? We are very serious rodeo fans and I use to be a member of PRCA. Bought my Permit in 1984 for Team Roping/"header". We also have the Cowboy Channel.

When we watch the Ft Worth Stock Show & Rodeo on Cowboy Channel, the arena seems to be packed with fans, just like Houston does.

I am! My husband and I attend several FWSSR performances annually, and we attended the NFR here in 2020. I watch rodeos on the Cowboy Channel year round. Neither my husband or I ever rodeoed professionally, although I did high school rodeo.

We've been to Cheyenne, Denver, Dodge City, Estes Park and a few other rodeos, including a few times to Vegas for the NFR. But, we've never watched the NFR in the Thomas-Mack Center, only from South Point or a Vegas Strip hotel/casino. We're also public members of the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs and have been their for their Hall of Fame Induction weekend a number of times. We have met, and have pictures on our walls, of different World Champions that we have met, like Joe Beaver, Trevor Brazile, Dee Pickett, Mike Beers, Fred Whitfield, Cory Solomon and the Hall of Fame lady, Charmagne James. Our apartment looks like a "PRCA rodeo museum" of photos as well as many tv/movie Western stars and real Old West people, like Buffalo Bill Cody and Sitting Bull.

I had never even been to a rodeo until 1983 and went with an old girlfriend to the PRCA Pacific Indoor Rodeo in Long Beach, CA. After seeing it, I was hooked and knew I wanted to be a part of it. During part of my "rodeo years", I also worked for a few Stock Contractors (Flying "U", Western Rodeo, Triangle "T") in the Timed Event area.

I was actually raised on a hog farm in northeastern Indiana and joined the Navy before I graduated high school in 1968. I joined because the Army Draft (Vietnam) was going to come after me.

My wife, who is only a year and a half older than me (her/75) loves rodeo, but specifically, PRCA. We've been married since March 2001.

I didn't go thru the ranks, as in Little Britches, Junior, High School and College, I jumped right in, after going to that Long Beach, CA rodeo: Bought my horse/Red Roan and all tack, bought a Rattler "heading" rope and then changed to Classic ropes, became a member of AQHA, bought my PRCA Permit, went to a Roping School in Norco, CA and went from their. I had a full-time job during the week working in electronics manufacturing as a Stockroom Supervisor, Purchasing and Inventory Managment. None of the guys I knew in rodeo done it full-time.

Anyway, thanks for your reply!*

Yep, just as I thought and have experience before on C-D, very little interest in professional rodeo! Just have keep reminding myself of what website/forum I'm putting a thread on that includes rodeo.

Started watching the Cowboy Channel during Covid and I'm now hooked. I check it every night to see what's on. Never was involved in Rodeo myself and now I'm certainly too old. I really enjoy watching on TV though.
