I am planning a trip to Fairbanks for October. I would love to hit up some dispensaries there. What are some top shelf local growers I should look for? Any specific strains?

I'm not a smoker so I can't advise you on what to buy, but I've been in a few Fairbanks dispensaries and I think it's hilarious how polished and cushy they are. Ordinarily, small businesses in Alaska are usually a dusty disorganized mess with terrible customer service and a dearth of merchandise, but you walk into a pot shop here and it looks like a Sephora, with a list of product options as long as Hammurabi's Code and a staff of ridiculously earnest employees, the sort of retail workers you'd expect to find at a Bloomingdale's perfume counter circa 1950, albeit with more facial piercings.

I voted yes for decriminalization, but I could not have predicted that potheads would make such enthusiastic entrepreneurs.

Anyway, I think the first shop to open up in Fairbanks when it became legal to do so was Pakalolo, so you might check that one out just for...historicity?

I remember them talking about "Matanuska Thunderf*ck" in High Times magazine back in the 1970s. It would certainly be one that I would ask about if I was up there shopping.

Seattle and WA State opened up in 2014, I went to my 1st dispensary 2015. The staff, service, recommendations, etc made for a great and unexpected experience. The past 2 years have shown it's one business that doesn't have an issue staffing. These folks know there stuff, are fully committed and passionate cannabis advocates.

It's not my jam but most of my friends go to Good Cannabis. I've been in there and agree with Frostnip - seems fancy. Not even Fairbanks Fancy, but actual Fancy Fancy.

You should hit Rebel Roots out in the Goldstream Valley. Much more Fairbanks.
