I have been trying, with not much luck, to get a job with the City of Edmonton for the better part of a year now. I have an accounting/finance background and feel like I am always very qualified for the position I am applying for, but I haven't heard back at all from any applications. I have a rewritten cover letter for every position, highlighting how I meet and exceed their qualifications, but it feels hopeless at this point.
Is there anyone here that can provide me with some insight? Am I missing something obvious?
I love this city and would be enthused to get to work for the public and make a difference where I live.
Have you tried applying for the government of Alberta? I have tried with the city as well, and I also have an accounting background. I have heard nothing and I have tried most available positions as well as added my resume to their Inventory. Sorry couldn't be much more help. All I can tell you is either get to know someone with an in or look elsewhere and keep trying.
Good luck
Elections Alberta Financial dept might need someone like you. They are HQd in Edmonton.
