Im looking for some advice on how to approach my landlord. He is coming over when I'm not home and is doing it on purpose so I'll move. He has said things to me like there was a smell in my rental and then said maybe it was coming from me. (It was the cat liter box). How would he know there was an odor in my rental unless he is snooping around? My landlord is behaving this way because while my exhusband still lived with me the landlord and him became good friends. My exhusband has admitted that he talks to the landlord about our breakup and my problems with depression and ocd. God only know what else my bitter and resentful ex could have told him in order to cause problems for me. I can't afford to move and don't want to. Recently I set up a hidden camera but haven't seen anything suspicious yet.
You need to make note of any and all times this landlord (who sounds like a real piece of work btw) enters the premises without notice. Write a letter and remind him of his obligation to provide notice, and make sure he receives it (registered mail if you want absolute assurance). Remind him in this letter than it's an offence under the Residential Tenancies Act to fail to provide proper Notice of Entry. If it continues, file a complaint with Service Alberta and/or seek legal options through Legal Aid.
Thanks. I had meant to write down dates when this first happened but waited to long and then forgot when things occured. I agree that writing a letter is a good idea.

I'd file that letter as a police report, get a file number assigned, and build your case, starting with a game cam inside your house. When you have a photo, this goes to the cops and they will HAVE to visit him and have a chit chat about unlawful entry.
