Here in Kent County, it's refreshing to see things getting back to "normal". The Delaware State Fair is booming and the Midway seems to be the same old fun place to be. Barns are full of cattle, pigs, sheep, chickens, and local - happy farm kids! Harrington Casino is not as crowded (as usual on Fair Week) but cool, clean, and sanitized. Finally.... it's a treat to be out and about in Kent County! Bars and restaurants are mostly open, festivals are taking place, and life is good!

I'm grateful that all my races are taking place again and I've been running quite a few. We are even back to having after parties. Multiple beer and wine festivals scheduled for this fall, both at the DE beaches and nearby OCMD. We'll be at some of them! I really hope they bring back the beer and pretzel festival at the Rudder. That was one of my favorites.

beachliz....thanks for your happy post! It's wonderful, isn't it?.....doing fun things that we used to take for granted! I feel like we've been 'let outta jail'....LOL

We've not been to the beer and pretzel festival at the Rudder. I'm hoping the Rudder has their Elvis competition back this year! We've enjoyed that for a few years!

We did a couple of stroll-thru visits to the Delaware State Fair this past week, and it was a really happy place to be, just like the "old" days. It was good to see all the little kids showing their ponies, goats, pigs.... and being so excited to be there. Today, Sunday, they were disassembling the rides, packing up their exhibits, and moving on out. I did get to see a couple of giraffes today being loaded up into tall trucks, as we were coming out of the Casino. They had a good week, and the first Fair Week I can remember not having any rain storms.

I am not certain this can be classified as good news, but I need honest answers because I have always pretty much been a logical person. A = B = C, kind of gal whenever possible. So, DH and I have each settled into our "general" roles of household duties mostly through osmosis, but we do vary them from time to time. I am the laundry fairy. I want to know if I am alone in this or not.

a) The minute I open the front load dryer a dryer ball drops out and rolls under the slop sink and always settles at the wall, if I am lucky. If I am not, my 4 legged friend retrieves it and plays with it, and I wind up tossing it into the basket to be washed and then "dried". Does this happen to anyone else?

b) This is really the one that has me. I can see the dryer balls landing in the pocket of the fitted sheets, that I get. But they always end up inside the pocket of DH golf shorts. Never in my clothes, EVER. I then have to pull them out, before hanging them. Invariably that begets a dryer ball on the top of the washer or dryer and the next thing ........you guessed it, I accidentally hit it shaking something our or with a hanger and ....... back to the slop sink or four legged friend all over again. It is just me? I am not offended if you tell me it is because I am generally accepting of the traffic here either.

Rdlr - Outside events are the way to go if one wants some fun. We used to visit the Harrington Buffet but haven't been there in years. Before the pandemic we used to go to the Dover buffet when in the area. But with the recent uptick in cases, we won't be doing any indoor dining. Not worth the risk to us.

One thing we used to like to do but haven't done recently is drive around the state parks/beaches where we can see herons, egrets, etc.

Seaponies.....We still go to the Harrington Casino, and dine upstairs in Murphys, where the Simulcast is. We hate Onion Jacks, and have had some bad food there. The Bonz Patio is open and they have bands, nice umbrella tables, and beautiful ferns, fountains, and flowers, all in an open-air environment. Dover Downs has The Candy Factory. In our opinion, too much loud music and noise for us. I know you miss the non-Covid days, just like we do.

The Wyoming Peach Festival was a HUGE success. The streets and sidewalks were full of people walking downtown to the Festival on August 7th, and school buses were busy traveling from W.B.Simpson School parking lot, to the Festival, saving lots of people from walking. The weather couldn't have been better.....not too humid! Proceeds from the Festival go to town improvements.

Was thinking about you on Saturday and wondering how you were doing good to hear.
