Yep. And, I make no secret about being 80 (in March). It doesn't pay.

I thought this was cool. The quality of the broadcasts should improve.

Not surprised UD got bounced in the first round this year....they really fizzled the final few weeks of the season. Will they have anyone back next year who was a part of the Cinderella team? If not, I think Archie has put together a program which will still attract talent from around the country.

They have everyone back, except for Pierre. They add a transfer who was a top 100 recruit out of high school.

This is an old post that I am responding to...but it is still current...all three programs mentioned are still doing very well. The volleyball arena had at least a million and a half dollars...maybe more...invested in improvements before this past season..in which the volleyball team won both the A-10 tourney and regular season titles. Women's soccer won the 2016 A-10 tournament. Women's basketball got off the a slow start in the nonconference schedule, but has now won ten out of it's last eleven games, is in first place in the Atlantic 10, and is now in serious contention for the program's seventh NCAA bid in the last eight years and tenth consecutive postseason bid overall (including both the NCAA and WNIT tournaments).

By the way, a lot of area sports fans don't realize that the women's basketball program has a national championship to it's credit...the 1980 AIAW Division II national title! The AIAW was the national governing body for women's intercollegiate athletics before the NCAA took over in that area in the early 80s.

That Dayton team competed in Division II, but played a schedule that featured a number of Division I schools as well..among the Division I schools that they beat were Ohio State, West Virginia, Indiana, Cincinnati, Purdue, Ohio University, Marshall, Louisville, Michigan, and Indiana State. That Dayton team featured, among a host of other stars...Ann Meyers...Dayton's all-time leading scorer including both the men's and women's teams. A Chaminade-Julienne alum..and longtime CJ teacher and coach..she is truly one of the greatest athletes in the history of this area and at UD she was a two sport star...earlier that same school year she had been named the best women's college volleyball player in the nation!

In addition to the 1980 national championship the women were national runner-up in 1979 and advanced to the NCAA Division II Final Four in 1984. The program moved to Division I status in the mid-eighties. Starting in 2010 the program advanced to the NCAA tournament six consecutive times, with the highlight being an Elite 8 run in 2015 featuring wins over Iowa State, Kentucky, and Louisville ( the latter two being women's basketball blueblood programs). Two players from that team, Allie Mallot and Andrea Hoover, went on to play in the WNBA.

They and the 1983 Wright State men's team (Division II national champions) are the only two college basketball teams from Dayton to win a national title.

What's the word on the Kettering Ice Arena? News report said only 8% of their population actually uses it. Why not have Dayton's IHL team use it? Oh wait, we don't have one now. Bring 'em back! :P
