In our lease we are required to water 3 times a week but we currently have a water restriction of twice a week in our city. Can a landlord still in force me to water three times? Also can a landlord put a lock box on the irrigation to prevent me from making adjustments to it?

Good grief. With as much rain as we have gotten this spring, you probably don’t need to water at all!

It’s ridiculous!!! The owner came by right after we had winter complaining of the grass looking dead. I explained it was just the winter time so of course the grass won’t look bright green. They ended up setting the irrigation to water 4 times a week now. Which is crazy because they are not the ones paying the water bill. And i would be the one getting charged if the city finds out about the excessive watering because we have a water restriction going on now.

So they put a lock on the sprinkler system and are not allowing you to change it? I’d hire a locksmith to remove it, or do it myself. There is absolutely no reason to be watering 4X a week, even in the summer. That is just too much. Where do you live that currently has water restrictions?
