I can't find any model or serial numbers anywhere. Not on the underside of the bottom bracket or the rear dropouts. I'm guessing that it must be an older model since it has Sun Tour Sprint derailleurs, down tube shifters, and crankset. Six-cog cluster and dual chainwheels. Sugino seat post. Grand Compe side-pull brakes.
When they started out there was just "the Cannondale aluminum bike".
You've probably got a heck of a nice bike there. I'd way rather have that than a modern plastic fantastic don't-ever-scratch-me-or-you'll-create-a-stress-riser creation.
You can check out the site below to see if you can id the year of the bike. Then check out the site's for older Cannondale catalogs. If those don't help, you can post on their forum site and ask there. You will probably get more help from them. https://vintagecannondale.com/info/serial_numbers/

Thanks for the good information.
The "head badge" is the first style, putting it between 1983-1989. I didn't see any numbers on the bottom bracket. I need to look again on the seat stays and chain stays, but it seems as though it's from between 1986-1989.

Probably closer to 86 than 89. By later 80's the 7-speed cassettes were out. I have (had) an '88 Cannondale MTB. Pretty sure it was a 3x7 gearing, with the eliptical front rings. It's still at my ex-wife's house. Still has the original yellow cable housings to match the seat and handlebars. Aluminum frame with Chrome forks (pre head shock). Pretty sure it was an "Aspin Series". I bought it new in college and rode the hell out of it.
A good way to tell the age of your bike is to look at the components. Stuff was changing a lot back then, at least on MTB's, so one year to the next was a huge difference.

Any guesses or suggestions?
I’d guess early ‘80s. SunTour was popular (and for good reason) in the late 70s and the early to mid 80s, as were downtube shifters. Shimano muscled out SunTour, which IMO is a shame. The 6-speed cluster puts it in the 80s.
However, Klein was THE aluminum frame maker starting in the ‘70s; I don’t recall Cannondale starting till the ‘80s.
Does Cannondale’s website offer any help with identifying it?
