Today's update took an unexpected turn. They found the car which had been towed on March 19 of this year. The driver who towed the Acura in March was murdered in a hail of bullets on April 10, the day before the carjacking.
The victim's husband, Miguel, reached out to a childhood friend from Honduras. Her husband is a Orange County deputy and he immediately calls the Seminole County detective working the case asking for an update and says he is an OC deputy but lies about his name. Then he searches the David system for the SC detective and shares everything with the victim's husband including the detective's pictures, address, etc. The OC deputy has been arrested.
It truly is an intriguing story and Sheriff Lemma's updates are incredible, well done and quite informative.
Got to admit I was thinking murder for hire but this is way more. That sheriff is sharp and articulate. They put it together fast. Normally don't see this many facts become known or released so fast/early in the investigation. Alot of moving parts here.
They mentioned when they killed the woman, dumped/burnt car it was an area they are probably familiar with-Did they do it before?-These criminals are brazen and ruthless-this is not their first rodeo.
Also title on the green Acura. It's almost if the criminals knew what type of car ie used just from auction to fuzzy the paper trail. And that Deputy fired might be an inside man for other stuff- Sounds like the family business is more that was being advertised on that Durango.
Since the criminals one step ahead did they park that Acura at a random apartment complex or suspect lives there? But why kill the guy(tow truck driver) for doing his job. Why was that Acura so important. Smugglers choice or incomplete paper trail?
If not drugs that family is involved in something. Did the victim marry this guy for citizenship or something?

I was thinking murder for hire as well. If it was just robbing the lady of drugs and money, why did they kill her? The gunman had a mask on.
But even a murder for hire, this is very odd way to kill her. The acura was hitting the bumper on the suv, a lot of people would have call the cops, and what makes the killers think she was going to stop the car?
Someone hitting your bumper on purpose is up to no good, you never let them get to you, you keep driving, u turns, whatever. But she stopped the car, and even open the door. That was the end.
Latest I've heard, she was headed to the drug house in Casselberry, (just North of Winter Springs, using back roads) where Giovany Joel Crespo-Hernandez resided with his girlfriend, to make a delivery. Delivering "money and stuff."
The broad daylight kidnapping and execution doesn't surprise me. That's the work of some cartel or high-ranking gang. The deliveries of large amounts of drugs to the house further indicate that. Street dealers don't get kilos of drugs sent to their house.
The execution wasn't the perp's first rodeo either. The brazen confidence of it all is evidence enough that he was involved in some major illicit activity.
The last person who Katherine spoke with, Giovanny, is now in custody. In addition, the person who is believed to have been driving the green Acura is in custody in Puerto Rico.
Yep. Figured from the start that this was related to drugs and gangs and/or cartel.
The kidnapper was paid $1,500 to “deliver her” to an unknown person.
Dumb criminals, dude waived his miranda rights and talked to the police.
So, he pretty much admitted to arm carjacking and kidnapping.
Did he not know that he is just as responsible for her murder.
So they had the dude in the same hoodie as his social media, but you can barely see his face.
That would be weak in the trial as 2 people can have the same hoodie.
"Torres-Garcia admitted to being the suspect who exited the green Acura and approached the victim's vehicle holding a gun. Torres-Garcia said the gun, an AR-15, was given to him approximately 30 minutes before the carjacking, the document says."
"Torres-Garcia also said he was paid $1,500 "to take the victim and deliver her to another individual," according to the document.
