For some reason when young guys walk away from home and go missing it seems as though many of them end up being found in bodies of water. I hope that isn't the case here.
I had to look up whether gators were in that area.. Seems the answer is yes, but they're quite rare.
The other issue.. He couldn't have 'accidentally' gotten to the water. Street view through the neighborhood he lived in shows that to get to that creek, you have to go around, through, or over a.. What looks to be about 5 foot tall wrought-iron looking fence.
But.. This still seems water is the place to start.
Right, I wonder if there is any video of the event caught by surveillance cameras. You would think that placing cameras in student housing complex would be a good idea.

I brought the quote over about the guy who gave LE the video. It seems to me that the video may be from a ring camera.
I didn't watch the video included in the article, no sound on my computer.
You'd think there would be video of what happened to him since the page you linked says there are security cameras.
People don't just vanish into thin air. There is usually some sort of foul play unless the missing person did something such as fell into water, OD'd on drugs or they killed themselves. I don't think he killed himself due to having his dog living with him. I could be wrong though.

While police and the Texas Search and Rescue Organization, also known as TEXSAR, were looking through the heavy brush behind the St. Helena Catholic Church on Wooldridge Road, resident Josh Johnson drove up and showed officers a video he has that he believes is connected somehow to the case.
No one would talk about what was on the video but Johnson did speak with 3NEWS about why he brought the video over.
"I am just trying to help out anyway I can, give them everything I've got," Johnson said. "But, I am a father and I wouldn't want this to happen to my child, so I'm doing everything I can to help them."
