For the same reason that hanging on to burning hot metal fixtures in the Florida summers of Orlando is appealing.

Sure we can try to make good things sound bad

Hey, the market speaks, I get it. But for the life of me, I can't see the reason. And to a lot of people, sky high prices and miserable heat aren't a "good thing." Not to mention the crowds and bad food. But I guess most folks do these summertime visits "for the kids." I was never in love with Disney, nor with amusement parks, as a kid, myself.

Water parks are much more appealing to me in Texas than theme parks, but even at Schlitterbahn the waiting in long lines in the heat has gotten bad recently including the middle of the week.

Meanwhile, you have Six Flags Fiesta Texas wanting to raise prices to attract more affluent customers and less teenage drop off. “migrating a little bit from what I call the Kmart, Walmart [customers] to maybe the Target customers." I get what the CEO is saying but it could have been said more tactfully.

One near the RGV would probably have a really long open season

Either one would be cool, but the RGV is a lot more secluded than corpus

Disney isn't interested in locals either, they cater to internationals as much as they do top 10% Americans by income.
I don't agree that Anaheim was a remote wasteland back in the 1950's. Half a million people lived around and in Anaheim back then in Orange County. And part of the L.A. metro area that had 5 million people in 1955. Walt Disney bought acreage that was orange groves at that time.

Southeast New Mexico might be an interesting spot. A drive-able distance from Denver, ABQ and the major Texas cities. And a state where politics won't be an issue. And SE New Mexico has a mild climate. Just need a new airport nearby.

I would say no due to the bad weather in the summer (too hot), but Orlando has the same bad summer weather, and it works for them.

Texas is also a bad location for foreign tourists. Europeans and eastern Canadians go to Florida; Asians and western Canadians go to California. How many would fly longer to go to Texas?

Meanwhile, it's reported that Texas judges from Fort Bend County (Houston Area) and Hidalgo County (Rio Grande Valley) are writing Disney trying to entice them to move Disney World away from Florida over to Texas to avoid "authoritarian, anti-business, and culture war attacks from extremists in Florida.”

Long shot, but I guess you can't win if you don't try.
