I don’t care for these lists very much, especially since they said Naples has a “reasonable” cost of living. According to Redfin, the median home price in Naples is 760k. That includes condos. It’s not “reasonable”.

Naples is for wealthy retirees.

They say “fairly reasonable,” not just reasonable. Probably because of what you say is the reason they went the “fairly” route.

I wouldn’t even say a median home price approaching $800k is “fairly reasonable”.

Anyway, I don’t care for these clickbait lists much because their authors often seem to lack critical thinking skills and/or post lists just for clickbait.

This article is about the METROPOLITAN AREAS.

That is what I thought until my middle class aunt moved there. There is the wealthy part of Naples metro close to the coast but there are the other metropolitan areas of Naples. It is pretty big. When people hear someone say they are moving to Naples one thinks "they are rich" but that is not always the case.

Naples-Marco Island, FL Metro Area
Median HH Income: $80,815
Median House Value: $541,500
https://censusreporter.org/profiles/...-fl-metro-area

Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk, CT Metro Area (which is often referred to as Bridgeport)
Median HH Income: $105,968
Median House Value: $536,600
https://censusreporter.org/profiles/...-ct-metro-area

New Haven-Milford, CT Metro Area
Median HH Income: $81,998
Median House Value: $319,400
https://censusreporter.org/profiles/...-ct-metro-area

Is everyone getting the understanding of what a METROPOLITAN AREA is?

The thread topic says "Metro" right in it.

In Fairfield County Metro we have the rich "Gold Coast" but we also have middle and upper middle class people away from the coastal areas.

Retirement income (Naples) is going to be a lot lower than prime working years income (Stamford), that's natural. Naples retirees are wealthy, no bones about it. They're not going to live beside The Help in the trailer parks by the airport that skew the values lower. They're going in a 1M+ home or condo, end of story.
Is everyone getting the understanding of how incomes work now?

Hopefully we can now discuss the Best Metros to retire.

As someone who is near retirement the following factor is at the top of the list

Health Rating
8 Bridgeport, Norwalk, Stamford
9 New Haven
5 NY, NY is a commuter train, Amtrack or car ride away

When you are young you don't realize how important those health ratings are until you start to need a lot if it over 70-75 years of age.

My mom is less than a year away from being 90 and her siblings (who live Fairfield and New Haven County) are in their late 80's and 90's. I attribute this to them living in these two CT metro areas. They all have managed health problems. They all have either diabetes, heart problems or a combination of both. If they all lived in a poor southern state I doubt they would all be alive.

THIS IS ABOUT THE MEROPOITIAN AREA......NOT JUST THE CITY OF NAPLES.

How many times do I need to point out the word METRO, METRO, METRO.

And yes we all know old folks are moving to all areas of Florida (and especially the Naples Metro) making it as Seinfeld says "Gods waiting room" lol.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The Help in the trailer parks by the airport (in Naples metro) that skew the values lower" SteveM85

And "the help" in Danbury, Bridgeport, Stratford etc. skew the Fairfield County numbers of the ultra wealthy Gold Coast of FFC.

There are wealthy and poor in ALL metros.....how else would the hard dirty work and landscaping get done?
