The other part to keep in mind is Foxboro has a mbta stop and it's by some major lines. By the mid to late 90's there was significant expansion

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Providence/Stoughton_Line By '97 there was the route from providence.

I'm not saying everyone takes the train but for special events the stop is used and it can cut down quite a bit on a bad driving. Where was CT? CT fastrak would take another 15 years, union station had to go to one track for maintenance issues. Eventually these were built. Foxboro is also where the older stadium was so logistically it did not take that much. Personally I think it was a fake play to see what could have been just to keep it serious with Mass. Also keep in mind the pats lost the superbowl in '96 and Bledsoe and Parcells. It nearly felt like they were leaving before they were leaving.

Bunch of WNBA teams moving Caitlin Clark games to their respective NBA arenas.

Well, CT Sun didn’t have a NBA arena to move it to. We talked a lot about XL, while bigger, isn’t nice. We also talked about Mohegan not caring or wanting extra ticket sales…they just want the flow thru to casino.

Still interesting that essentially the Sun can’t do that since there is no pro arena to shift to.

It's just one game, attendance will dip each additional trip of hers, and by next year, be routine attendance of any visiting team.

A billion dollar arena requires at minimum one Big 4 team to even partially justify the investment.

CT wasn't turned on it's axis because the Caitlan Clark game wasn't in an NBA arena.

The Clark attendance affect will wear thin quickly.

She is struggling.

Missing a lot of threes and high turnovers.

Typical WNBA. Closer to the Washington General than the Harlem Globetrotters.

Yes, It's a WNBA trend, every now and then a top pick gets headlines and gate receipts only to go back into relative obscurity in season two. Griner was another.

To be clear, women’s basketball has never seen anything like Caitlin Clark before.

WNBA games all selling out, moving to NBA arenas, resale tickets $500+. Games nationally on TV each week.

THIS has never happened before. Not saying it won’t fizzle out but this is not typical.

I would prefer to see Lamont put a committee together to explore what should be done long-term in Ct regarding entertainment/sports arenas. Not simply make off the cuff remarks.

Do the ROI in advance on a new arena, fees on infringing on territory rights, etc.

I am convinced we will not get any Big 4 team, but I also think the citizens have the right to expect the state to analyze the whole thing thoroughly and to report their findings, also.

I also think we need to consider a new smaller arena to replace the XL, NOT major league capacity at some point as opposed to pouring $150 million into a 49 year old arena. If we study it and come to the realization Big 4 is not possible, an arena holding 10,000 or so could replace it at a lower cost to both build and operate.
