I think there is a chance for more mid-rises but we are just not attracting any sort of new industry here. Every time I read an article on GeorgiaTrend https://www.georgiatrend.com/2023/11...-the-state-79/ about the development around the state. Nothing is mentioned about this area besides the Hyundai battery plant near west point. Its like this Metro area is not even trying to get new corporations to move here!

This is what happens when you don't have an interstate running through our area. The biggest mistake this area ever made was stopping I-185 at Ft. Moore.

At the time, Columbus believed an interstate would bring "undesirables" to town. So they did everything they could to avoid one. 185 wasn't completed until 1980.

The region is still paying the price for that mindset to this day. I cannot imagine all of the ways Columbus would be different with a major interstate connecting it to other towns.

I hope I-14 eventually happens. An interstate connection to Montgomery/Auburn and Macon would be transformative.

Does anyone know if the Military business technology park that was suppose to be built before the Ft Moore exit is still being developed on the woods near cusseta road. I know they are building a new exit for I-185 on Cusseta Rd.
