I won't be seeing any hummingbirds here for a few weeks but the hummingbird ring I ordered came the other day!
It's a tiny little feeder and you hold real still and wear it on your finger.
Wish me luck

Oh, I was thinking about trying one of those little rings myself. Where I sit on my porch, the hummingbirds fly into and out of the tree next to my driveway to my feeders. I can rest my arm on the porch railing with one of those feeder rings.

I imagine you have to be patient, but what fun it must be the first time a little hummer lands. We'll have to report back here on how they worked.

I have not tried the ring but I have a small feeder with a flat bottom that sits in the palm of your hand that the hummingbirds drink from. It’s amazing to see them up close and feel the air movement from their wings. They usually hoover and drink from the ports but I had one intrepid Calliope Hummingbird last summer that would sit on my fingers.

That would be an incredible experience. Can you share a photo of the feeder you're using?

I don’t have an account set up with any photo sharing services, but it’s a Perky Pet 9100 Handheld Feeder. If you want to buy it locally I have seen them at This Place is for the Birds. They are also available on Amazon.

All my feeders are that brand. I'll look at it and a ring one. Probably both fun. (by the way, I post photos directly from my hard drive, not a sharing service).

Hung my feeders out this morning, and almost immediately a hummingbird flew up to it. Unfortunately I was still standing there, so it took off ... it'll be back tomorrow, I'm sure. Looking forward to my tiny summer house guests.

Nice. That's all I've had was that one buzz-by (I like that description) that I scared off when hanging the feeders. But one of the feeders is low, I just haven't witnessed any at the feeders yet. I'm sure I will this weekend.
