Hello,

My wife and I are moving to Colorado Springs this July after we graduate school, and plan to rent for the first year or two before buying. We were planning to go out for a visit to find a rental house (not really looking for an apartment) around the Rockrimmon area, and wondered about timing for that so we could actually see potential rentals. Too early and people would want our lease to start early, but too late and might not have good optins.

I'm not starting work until September so have some wiggle room on the move in date, but would ideally be settled before starting work. Would an early June visit be appropriate for a July move in date for a rental house in your all's experience?

I'm not sure anyone might want a lease to start early, and I'd think earlier would be better than taking a chance on later. Not sure what your budget is, but decent affordable rentals, especially houses, are in short demand and can get snapped up quickly. If something perfect came up, would you be able or willing to take on a extra month if you had to move on it quickly?

This is a great site to search rentals, and perhaps move-in date information would be included on some of the listings: www.ppar.com
