I am 100% opposed to DEI. Daughter signed up for first course. I am reviewing the syllabus and lo and behold, in the FIRST COURSE. My daughter is impressionable. I don't want her having this stuff shoved down her throat while I pay for it. Since I know this is almost at every college in the country, I am at a loss of how to avoid this.

You say she signed up for it... so it is not being shoved down her throat, right?
Or is there more to the story?
Someone I know has a kid at a private school in 9th grade and they're taking a course on anti racism. Everyone has to take it.
I personally would rather they focus more on things like math and science. I'm not sure a whole class on racism over the course of a semester is necessary for 9th graders.

This is a community college.
But, since you brought it up....in my daughter's 10th grade, she took a dual credit class for English and Social studies. So two periods a day for the entire year. Since I was then becoming keenly aware of the pushing of DEI and the like in public k-12, I asked on parent night for a syllabus, which is customary for teachers to hand out. They told me they didn't have a preprepared one because the curriculum was 'student guided and that they course would go in whatever direction the students want to go in." So the students wanted to spend an entire semester, equivalent to ONE YEAR on racism and slavery? Because that's exactly what they did. It was during Covid and I was watching more closely because of their refusal to tell me what they were going to teach.
I still don't understand. What specifically are they telling your daughter that you disapprove of or don't want her to know about?
Good question.
