Hello,

Hopefully this is not the wrong forum to be asking this. I currently work in a management role at an entertainment company but will be transitioning into a more analytical role in the next year or so. My boss has asked me to research some data analytics programs I'd be interested in to have the company expense my continuing education in the new year but I'm at a loss for where to begin.

They are really looking for me to learn SQL and data analytics/visualization in order to tell a story visually with our data sets. I would say I know beginning SQL and excel and have taken some courses through Coursera and Edx but am looking for an actual cert or continuing ed program (I'm based in NJ/NYC if that helps) that focuses on analyzing and visualization.

You don't really need certs for learning SQL. If you already have the aptitude from creative problem solving with data (especially within Excel), SQL should be pretty simple for you to learn.

I like W3 Schools because it offers a sandbox with multiple tables for you to practice on. Once you get a pretty basic grasp of the commands, you can just "play" around in the sandbox and practice more intricate queries such as joins.

Take a course/ certification on Microsoft PowerBI.

After that you can go deeper on the Microsoft SQL BI platform.
