Hi Everyone!

I'm coming from a New England State for job in Mineral, VA.

Could someone tell me:

1.) What's the drive like from Charlottesville to Mineral vs Richmond to Mineral? I heard it's more country roads than highways. I'm used to driving in Boston/NJ. I've been on roads where it's a single lane in Amishville, PA.

2.) Which town is more diverse and safer for me to walk my dogs?

3.) Any laws that I should be aware of or animals/diseases when walking my two dogs?

4.) Which city has more things to do and meet new people?

Thank you!

From either, it will be more like driving in the Pocano foothills rather than Boston/NJ. Lots of farms and forests, in rolling hills. Either drive will be 45-60 minutes depending on where you settle in C'ville or Richmond; might be shortest from NW Richmond and then up US 33. Fredericksburg is also and option. 2 lanes or part interstate; again, depends on where you land.

I'll check out Fredericksburg. I heard I-95 is really bad when driving. Is Route 208 hilly and lots of farm as well?

208 is the same. As others have said, I95 will be the worst. I would be checking out newer places up along US33 NW of I295 and moreso west of Short Pump near to I64.... if I wanted to be near a city.

Btw, your biggest time for commuting will be in or out of the suburbs, if you chose to live in one of the nearby cities.

For smaller towns, add in Orange and Culpeper.

Or even the Lake Monticello or Palmyra area.
