This just dropped into my email. I usually ignore Yahoo headlines in my e mail but this caught my eye. She was so young, and I liked her a lot. Hurts my heart a little, you know?

I caught a thread in the celebrities section this morning, was very shocked to see she died.

I wonder if the cancer she was just diagnosed with was pancreatic cancer which is usually too far advanced before symptoms start. Lung cancer is similar with how advanced it could be when found. My son's great aunt passed soon after learning she had lung cancer.

I also grew up watching Cheers and it seems like they are all still so young. One expects people to die in their 90's or live to be 100. Seems terribly young to die just past their 60's.

Wonder who else is next?

Good question, who will be next? Deborah Harry from Blondie would be a shocker to me.

Kirstie had a great spirit about her. She was a gifted comedian and actress. But above all she was real. I remember seeing her on a random show and they asked the person what the greatest song of all time was. And she responded “In the evening “ by Led Zeppelin.

I was not expecting someone to come out with a relatively obscure deep cut. Needless to say when I heard about her passing I had to crank it up last night.

RIP

A lot of people would be a shocker if they suddenly died. Sting, Bono, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Elton John, etc, etc. The list is pretty big. All huge celebrities. Let's hope they live a long, prosperous life.

She is dead, yet Woody, Cliff Clavin and Norm are still sucking air?

I liked her.

But as a 73 year old, I wouldn't call 71 "so young".

She was one of my favorite actresses. Her and John Larroquett made comedy fun again when they worked together.

RIP Kirstie.

These sad news stories are coming far too often these days, it seems. Perhaps that impression, though, is just the online world in action. Back in the day, aside from the biggest names we wouldn't hear of most of these for days, weeks, months, if ever.

When I think about life in, say, 1965, I'm not sure how we knew much of anything outside of our own daily lives. Fact is....we didn't.
