Anyone here have any experience of buying airtime for a 30 minute radio show on the weekend (or anything of the like), to promote their business?

I'd like to hear any experiences doing this, as I am considering giving it a try. Were you successful? Was it a bust? How long did you do it? Cost? If successful with it, how long did it take to see results?

Not a 30 minute show, I did do a one-time trial radio ad, back about 2004 on a local "business news" station. My customers were about 90% other businesses. Way back then the cost was about $200 for one minute twice a day for 5 days. Their people helped me write the copy, and a popular host read it. Probably not worth it, as I only know of two jobs coming from it, and total was just over $800 revenue, with my profit margin at 37% that's $296, so I made only $96 over the cost, not worth the trouble. I was offering a 10% discount for mentioning the ad, to track it. It really depends on who is listening to the station and whether they need your product or service. I found later that my ad reached a lot of people that were too far away from my shop to bother coming here.

Try this - when was the last time you bought something based on a radio commercial?

First question: does your target market listen to OTA radio?

WFLA in Tampa seems to have many 30-60 minutes "shows" that are advertised as shows to help people but sound like commercials to me.

Sunday Schedule:
https://wflanews.iheart.com/schedule/sunday/

"Selling your house with ease" with the Duncan Duo https://www.theduncanduo.com/

"Guarding Your Nest Egg" with Mike Lester from Talon Wealth Management.

"Retirement Success! With Steve & Elizabeth Holland" of The Holland Group https://thehollandgrp.com/

It might work. Make it interesting, answer common questions that people may have.

I got my mortgage from a broker who did a weekly show with a realtor.

Agreed. Whatever you do, don't make it formal or "sales-y", like a 30 minute long commercial.

What's your product or service? Try to make it interesting, with real life examples and stories, and inject humor if you can.

I would be curious to hear what you end up doing and how it turns out for you.

The business is Medicare Insurance. Not exactly the most interesting subject for most people lol

But my wife and I created a Rumble channel a while back to create short videos educating people on the subject. We try to keep it somewhat entertaining.

We have been toying with the idea, of the radio show, and created a couple of short "podcast" type videos as well to try an practice.

Could any of you give me your thoughts, on whether or not we are on the right track?
