Its basically a warehouse with a small attached market. Not sure if it is as good as the Tops project since they had a much larger selection of things and there are not many places downtown to get paper products, cosmetics and other things a full service grocer like Tops would have provided.

Well, the big news is that it's coming at all to downtown Buffalo which doesn't exactly have much grocery options. The establishment of a grocery store, often a small one at first, is usually the step for other city downtowns where downtown becomes a much more attractive mixed-use area. Right now downtown Buffalo has only convenience stores and a seasonal farmer's market an and combined they do a little bit, but this is overall a relatively large upgrade if the retail area is 50% larger than the retail area for the original Hamburg store.
The entire project makes no sense. They add a tiny market and remove 375 parking spaces and build 200 apartments. As Carl Paladino says
"This is a fraud. This is an attempt to answer someone's desire. There's 375 parking spaces on that site. You're going to put 200 apartments there, and everyone's going to have a car. That's 575. Add it up, we don't have parking,"
It makes the city happy to have 200 lower income apartments but the parking is a huge issue. I worked 1/2 a block away and the parking was awful but at least I could park in that lot. With it gone and 200 apartments added its a recipe for disaster. Its not like its San Diego in the climate department. Walking a few extra blocks in the winter can literally take your breath away.
The original plan had underground parking but the new one does away with it.
low income apartments because its all public funded and also sounds like One Seneca is on the verge of going bankrupt again, Douglas is runing out of money and owes his creditors $10 of millions and has been unable to sign any leases and theirs 0 interest
