Hi all!
What neighborhoods to move to would you recommend for a family moving to Bozeman? We have school aged kids and are looking for a great neighborhood that has lots of school aged kids (say 6-13 years old) for ours to play with. We have visited and really liked the Southside (West Meadow) area, Legends on the north east, and Middle Creek Parklands in Four Corners (though I wasn't thrilled by how flat and treeless it was there). What areas would you recommend? Looking for good schools, LOTS of kids, cool houses and trees if possible. Don't want a huge lot, but an area that is more close knit so kids and go nextdoor to visit friends, etc. Thanks!

On this site https://bozemanrealestate.group/blog...t-subdivisions they mention West Meadow being close to schools, while for Legends they talk about it being a good place to retire. That might mean something significant about number of neighborhood kids or it might not be that big a difference. Ask a real estate agent.

It is hard to find Bozeman neighborhood demographic information. May be possible thru Census Bureau if you identify Census tracts.

I did find 2 facts. 1. Average age in West Meadow is 48. I dunno how many kids. But based on this, there are probably a fair number of empty nesters there too. 2. For Bozeman as whole apparently 48% of "families" have kids at home and that is above national average.

Prices are either jumping in West Meadow or the high end is more busy.

If you want a lot of kids, you might look at neighborhoods a price point or two lower, something more attainable for more young families.

Could contact PTAs of those local schools and ask.

There isnt much useful detail about schools / kids in past threads. Though one post said some of the best spots are full of people who had kids a generation or more ago and I think that is likely to be true. MAYBE less an issue in certain newer neighborhoods / subdivisions.

Willow Creek MT (population 200 and falling) about an hour west of Bozeman has about 150 kids in a 500 square mile area around it. But you could find that next to other small MT metros. Picking to run into the "Boangeles" of Montana would be an interesting choice by you. But maybe that is the combo for you. Very few people nearby home, just barely within reach of urban with most of the bells & whistles.
