Why are boxing gloves shaped to not allow proper making of fist? Or are are boxing gloves designed specifically to be worn with thick padding of hand wrap around fist? And when I write proper fist, and I mean a fist you make when barehanded.

With a boxing glove the, the thumb is on the side. There is no way to get it under where it is suppose to be. There is also a grip bar. When you make a tight fist there is not between fingers and palm for any bar. Plus the worst of all is because of the curvature of the glove, the wearer cannot make initial impact on the top knuckles. The bar causing the second knuckles to protrude further couples with the shape means you make first impact with the second knuckles or somewhere in between the top and second knuckles.

Is the wearer not suppose to make a barehanded fist inside of a glove? Is there a special way to, and I am doing it wrong?

Professional boxing and amateur boxing using different type of gloves. In amateur boxing, you cannot make a fist, in pro type, you can.

Please post a pic of what you believe to be a proper fist.

Yes there are several types of boxing gloves. You sound like you have tried cheap sparring gloves. The gloves you wear in the ring are way different. To be fair I haven't put on a pair of any type of gloves in 10 years easily so things could have changed since then.

I know nothing about the guy in the video. Just highly recommending this style fist. Notice the thumb placement. I have many many years of boxing and IsshinRyu karate experience and I personally like this style fist way more.

The thumb in boxing gloves is the way it is to avoid eye pokes from a thumb in the eye.

The isshin ryu fist is more similar to how my thumb placement is inside a boxing glove.
