There appears to be no Kaiser in Bend (yes?) and it is not clear to me if Providence is accepted by the local clinics and hospitals. Do you have any suggestions on which medical insurance is best (accepted)?

We have had good luck with Pacific source insurance being accepted at most clinics and the hospital, but PacificSource does seem to contest every billing put through. You really have to push "just send it through again". Nice thing is you don't need referrals for Specialists and with the time it takes to get an appointment in this town, it can add months onto the months it takes to see a Specialist, just to get a referral.
Keep in mind that the medical community is in crisis in Central Oregon. Growth is way too fast for number of doctors and one hospital. Just to see your Primary Care Physician can take 6 months to a year or more. Eye exams from a ophthalmologist can take over a year. Orthopedic surgeons.... plan years ahead for a knee replacement by a decent doctor. Turnover rate of doctors is mind blowing. Clinics cannot seem to retain doctors, so you need to often find replacement doctors.
The Center for orthopedics has the world's worst management and is generally a nightmare to deal with, and now they have a monopoly on orthopedics. If you have a problem with them, you literally cannot reach management or get anything but warm fuzzies to put you off. They gave me the wrong shot in my knee, with a drug that was listed on my drug allergies, literally malpractice, and all I asked for (instead of suing them) was to not be charged for the wrong shot they gave me. I literally could not contact anyone there on phone, email or in person and they charged me even after admitting to malpractice. I hate the place.
