Very lucky. Many envy you.

Can we add pictures that are of the Wilderness just outside town? Or would that be against the rules ?

Either way:

Mt. Bachelor. Just lifts (practically). The way it ought to be:

I've only lived in Oregon a couple of years and haven't made it to Bend yet. But I hear people talking about it a lot and have asked many questions about it.

I don't think I've heard one person say anything negative about the place.

Great pics - - no rules, anything you might have of the areas around and in Bend would be great. Thanks!

P.S.: Maybe we can make this thread a Sticky as in other threads?

Here are a few pics of the area. Not sure how to insert the images directly into the message. The first pic is Devil's Lake, the second is Mt. Bachelor from the top of Devil's Garden, the third and fourth pics are the Old Mill District, and the last are some of the Cascade peaks as seen from Mt. Bachelor (Broken top and the Three Sisters).

You've got to use a site like ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting to upload your photos. From there you can choose how and the type of insertion. It used to be easier. Now-a-days you have to sign up (it's free still) for these types of sites to use em and they attempt to intergrade you into their horrible online albums features at every turn.

Here's more pictures of Bend and the area:

Smith Rock:

Monkey Face at Smith Rock:

Tumalo Falls:

Sisters Wilderness. A high Cascade lake, ~8,000ft, on the backside of South Sister (My roommate and dog):

Back Country snow pit digging at Tam McArthur Rim (not me - a buddy. I'm behind that camera phone though :0 ):

Our local version of Crater Lake. Paulina Peak, just under 8,000ft. I don't think enough people in Bend talk this site up enough, tbh:

(Taken this February. Notice the sun )

Crater Lake NP. 1.5 hours from town (Two roommates and a visiting NYC-er):

Great photos and thanks for the info! You're right, we don't talk enough about Paulina (btw, was that photo really taken in Feb? There's not a trace of snow at all. Kinda scary). It's great and there are some natural hot springs, if you know where to look!

Newberry Crater is so close and so unspoiled. One of my favorite MTB rides is around the rim trail. Incredible views of Paulina and East Lake.
