Today I'm finding out that 32 out of 120 minor league BB teams have been vacuumed up by Diamond Baseball Holdings, a three-year old firmed financed by private equity.

Happens to every team, and has happened to the Yankees before and will again. Jon Miller is getting on up there in age now, I can't imagine he has too many years left out in SF. Hell, I remember listening to him calling Orioles games back in the day. One of my favorite voices in the game of modern times and... I'm not a Giants fan.

Hunter Wendelstadt throwing Aaron Boone out of today's Yankees/A's game because he had rabbit ears from a fan sitting in the first row behind the dugout heckling him demonstrates just what's wrong with umpire's this year.
This has been an exciting first month of the season with teams like the Guardians, Yankees and Orioles off to hot starts in the American League while the Braves, Brewers, Cubs and Phillies set the pace in the National League. Mike Trout tops the majors in home runs (10), Shohei Ohtani leads the league in batting average (.371) and slugging (.695), Mookie Betts leads in on-base percentage (.468) and Elly De La Cruz already has an MLB-best 15 stolen bases. On the pitching side, Tyler Glasnow ranks first in strikeouts (44) and closers Clay Holmes and Robert Suarez share the league lead in saves with nine apiece.

The two teams who still haven't won two games in a row this season?? That would be the two NL expansion cousins, the Rockies and the Marlins. Neither of them have back-to-back wins yet.

I was thinking earlier.. "What's happened with the Marlins"? Then you look at them near the bottom of the pile in basically every batting and pitching stat and.. Well, kinda answers itself.
I don't think anyone expected them to repeat the great run they had last year, but.. Most had them hovering at 5 or so games below .500.
Of course.. We're.. ~30 games into the season. Still early yet. Philly the past two years was well below .500 or right at it at this point and came out fine.
The White Sox and Rockies are.. Probably about where expected. Each of them was projected to come close to 100 losses.
The Marlins did have about a negative -58 run differential and had one of the best records in MLB History in 1 run games last year, so they were naturally due to regress. Their problem is before the season they lost 2 starters from last year to season-ending injuries (Alcantara & Eury Perez) and than right before the season lost another (Braxton Garrett), so because of that they had to convert their closer/set up man AJ Puk back to the rotation to start the year because they had no bodies. And now both Puk and opening day starter Jesus Luzardo are on the IL, so that's basically 6 starters they had planned to have on the shelf and pretty much the entire rotation from last year. So then it's a snowball effect; you have no SPs, and you aren't going to spend money to go get an unsigned guy, so you have to basically call up your AAA and AA pitchers to pitch at the major league level. These guys aren't going to pitch very long in the games, and than it just stretches a mediocre to bad bullpen even moreso because of all the extra innings they'll have to pitch. And they lost a few games earlier in the season as guys were trying to find their role because again....one of their better back end arms last year had to go back to the rotation because of the injuries. And than to compound matters one of the few guys that was swinging the bat well (Jake Burger) is on the IL as well, so when it rains it downpours I guess??
