Well, almost as soon as I declared it "RockTober" the dream went south on us, with a losing streak at the worst possible time. As of 28 Sept 2010, all hopes of making the playoffs ended with yet another loss.

So, it's now "wait till next year" which is something I usually say in early May for my beloved Orioles.

Still, it was a great season full of marvelous baseball and many memories.

Well, the season's over for the Rockies, who lost 13 of their last 14 games, a massive collapse and the mirror reverse of their amazing 2007 season where they won 22 of their last 23 games to win the NL West. Not to be this year. Still, there was a lot of great, memorable baseball and we thank the team and the organization.

Default The Official 2012 Colorado Rockies Thread

Rockies off to a rocky 1-2 opening weekend in Houston.

They lost today late in the game when a throwing error led to two runs scoring after there were already two outs. Ouch.

On Saturday, 49-year old Jamie Moyer started for the Rockies, hurling his blistering 78 MPH fastball.

Opening series don't mean much, but this set in Houston seems a bad omen.

I'm hoping that it's not a signal of things to come. Hoping.

And yesterday afternoon's home opener against the San Francisco Giants? 7-zip Giants.

Uff-da!

Last night's game was a wacky one too.

Rockies had 6 run lead going into the 4th inning, then the Giants score 7 runs. I was in "ouch" mode at that point.

Then the rains came for a few minutes and afterward the Rockies had all sorts of magic with their bats, and in the bottom of the 5th they more than batted around, scoring 7 runs. The final score ended up 17-8 Rockies. They play again today at 1:10 PM MDT.

Last night's game (4-14-12) was a nail biter.

Rockies had a 5-1 lead when the rains came in the top of the 5th, then after a 75-minute rain delay they resumed play and Arizona chipped it's way back to a 7-5 lead, with intermittent rain the whole time. Rocks got one back in the bottom of the 8th. In the ninth, Rocks had a man on base and with two outs and the count at 1-1, Todd Helton hits a walk off home run into the rainy night....by the time the game was over it had taken almost five hours, and it was snowing sideways here in COLO SPGS....with lightning. Rockies beat the Diamondbacks 8-7 and are now 4-4 on the season. It was the 7th time Helton has hit a walk off home run. The losing Arizona pitcher was J.J.Putz.

Gold Glove Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki made TWO errors in ONE inning to add to the muddy messiness.
